What type of music is “so” Brighton?

So, during my time in Brighton, I was very curious to find out more about Brighton music. This led me to ask some people in the streets about the music of this city. I wanted to find out if they played an instrument, what was their favourite kind of music, where do they go to listen to music, and, finally, what is the typical kind of music of Brighton.

Malia is fifteen years old. She plays piano and ukulele. Malia listens to a lot of pop music, like Ed Sheeran. She often goes to concerts at The Brighton Centre. When I asked her what is the typical kind of music of Brighton, she answered: “it’s rock, of course!”

Why is rock “so Brighton”?
After talking to all these people, I noticed that it didn’t matter what type of music they were fans of, they all think that rock is the typical music of Brighton. It made me wonder why that is.
After some research, I found out that there was a big music rivalry in the UK in the ’60s and ’70s, between the rockers, people who listen to rock, and the mods, peoples who listen to blues and souls.
