Searching for vegan ice-cream in Brighton

Before I came to Brighton for my 3-week internship, I did not know much about the city. I associated the city with beautiful landscapes, various foods and the people. When I arrived in Brighton, I immediately noticed that the city radiates so much happiness and tolerance.
I love eating. At home, I eat lots of vegan and vegetarian food, and I wanted to see what Brighton had to offer. I thought the city would be a good place to try new and quirky food.
Asking Brightonian foodies
On my second day I started my search for the best vegan food in town, and so I asked some people on the streets for advice. They suggested a wide range of restaurants – it was a bit overwhelming.
But it was a nice hot summer day and some people recommended the ice cream parlours. I changed tactics and started to ask around for vegan ice-cream. The more people I asked, the more selection I got.
And so my trip for vegan ice cream started!
Savoring the street art
After all the suggestions, I thought I didn’t have to worry much and would probably just stumble upon a nice shop anywhere. So I just walked around without a plan.
On my way through Brighton I saw a lot of beautiful street art. Everywhere you go you can find it, and I think it makes Brighton so different to other cities. The streets of Brighton are decorated with the colours of the rainbow. It makes Brighton a lovely city, because the message of these colours is so fantastic. Every time I walk through the city I find that everyone supports this, and it seems to me that everybody can be the person he or she wants to be.
After a while and a long walk, I decided to follow a little alley. That’s where I ended up finding the vegan ice-cream I was searching for. I was so excited to try it!
At last, vegan ice cream
“Boho gelato” is a really great place for eating ice-cream in Brighton. My favourite thing about this parlour is that their ice-cream is handmade. They have a dairy and a vegan selection. The dairy ice-cream is made with local milk straight from the farm. The vegan ice-cream is, of course, dairy-free, but tastes just as good! This is very different to Austria, because hardly no one sells vegan ice-cream there.
My choices of flavours? “Berry” and “Vanilla”.
With my vegan ice-cream in the one hand and the bright sun shining on my face, I thought how cool it would be to enjoy my ice-cream on the beach. That was not really hard, because the sea is around the corner. I think in this moment I was one of the happiest teenagers in Brighton.
